Programming HISS keys DIY

1999 the Deauville was one of the first Honda motorcycles equipped with the H.I.S.S. immobiliser. Starting the engine requires using a registered transponder key. It ist not sufficient to use a copied key. The new key needs to have a transponder which is registered in the H.I.S.S. Registering takes time an money as well - if it's done at the Honda service. This page describes how to solve this problem with very little money and half an hours work. The details refer to my Deauville modelyear 2005.

H.I.S.S. Immobiliser

ignition switch with H.I.S.S.

The electronic immobiliser Honda Ignition Security System (H.I.S.S.) makes sure that the engine can only be started when using an "original key". The system cannot be bypassed by either hot-wiring the ignition or exchanging the ignition switch module. A chip in the original ignition key recognizes signals from the Engine Control Unit and sends a special ID verification signal. If the signals do not match, the engine will not start.
